This bit is mega stupid easy. The real trick, I think, is to start out with a good set of colors. You don’t want to have the two base tones to be very different, because if there’s too much contrast the viewer’s eye will stray away from the focal point to look at it. Now, here I drew a bush as an example, but a tree’s foliage is pretty much the same thing, but with lighter base colors and a different shape.

The speckle brush there is from the same brush set I linked before, same name and all. The two leafy brushes are originally from this brush set, although I don’t really recommend downloading the whole set just to find them… A lot of the brushes are duplicates and require quite a bit of fiddling around to make them subtle enough. I suggest making your own in the same method I showed you how to make grass brushes, with a bit of color dynamics. Just start with a leafy shape!
