“Sex Education in the UK requires an overhaul. The education received tells nothing of issues such as the issues involved in LGBTQA+ rights, feminism, abuse, disability, sexism, bullying, rape, and so forth. It basically says that a penis goes into a vagina, and you have to wear a condom and take birth control, or you will get STI’s/pregnant. This, I believe, is unacceptable, ignorant, and below the standard of education that we should be providing for teenagers.”

Here’s a thing you didn’t know I did – I wrote a letter to my MP back when I was in Sixth Form, calling for an overhaul of sex education by way of complaining how a friend of mine who was at the time studying for psychology and biology A Level didn’t understand that sexuality wasn’t a choice. This MP was apparently impressed by my research and passed the letter onto Michael Gove, who wrote me back saying that my thoughts would be included in the survey the government was doing about educational changes. Not that it ever made a difference. Let’s see if this petition does any better.

Sign it if you’re a UK national, reblog if you can’t. This stuff is important, and should be taught in schools, not just by those parents who think it’s important.
