Tumblr user jimbo-nerdtron, thank you very much for being just as angry about this as I am. I’ve actually done a painting of one of these statuaries before. They’re gorgeous and poignant and not to be made light of. When I had decided I was going to do my painting, and showed my art teacher the reference image she nearly cried, because her husband had committed suicide and that was the statuary she wanted for him, but couldn’t afford. It was a very meaningful painting to me, but because I was a huge Doctor Who fan at the time, people literally would not stop making comments about the god damn overrated Weeping Angels. Even then it pissed me off. It’s not a Weeping Angel.
It’s the Angel of Grief.
