phoenix-falls:

As a lot of you who follow news in Indian Country know, the Blackfeet reservation has been going through some really rough times the last several years and things have just been escalating really rapidly lately.

Well, the BTBC is still being more or less utterly useless and everyone else has to pay for it. Now, this isn’t as bad on an individual level for those of us who don’t live on the reservation, but people on the rez are going without money for basic necessity bills. Businesses are severely cutting hours and some are temporarily closing altogether which means more people out of work and less money in the community.

The Blackfeet Nation reservation is located in upper Montana, right against Glacier National Park. If you’re not from the area, I’m sure I still don’t have to tell you how cold it gets near the Rockies in the wintertime and there are people who are going without power because they haven’t the money to pay for the power bills.

Anyone wanting to donate to those without electricity can call Glacier Electric at 406.338.5400.

I’ve not heard of an official program for other donations like food, but I will update if I find anything out. If you’re near the reservation, the Blackfeet Agency number is  406.338.7544

Even if you can’t donate, please reblog and spread the word, any kind of help is useful.
