Everything they said about River: YES. And mostly right on the other points for female characters. His cult-of-domesticity leanings were REALLY showing with the Christmas episode that was essentially Narnia. And honestly, with Clara, I have NO sense of her as an actual character, at all. She’s just kind of bland. A space-filler.
Can I just say that while I agree with nearly every single line of this, Matt and his amazing supporting cast really did an amazing job of pulling something out of this poor writing to make a good show. I think that Matt had a vision for his Doctor that was entirely different from moffat’s and you could actually hear him rolling his eyes at some of the lines he was forced to say.
