I had this brilliant idea whilst at the Oregon national dunes monument to light up a whole landscape with a flashlight. It was a pitch black moonless night and while the camera was set to bulb, i proceeded to walk the rolling dunes whilst making sweeping motions with the maglite as i went. I was careful not to create specular highlights and made sure i had my back to the lens at all times. What i failed to realise however was the silhouette of myself i was creating in doing so.

I set a 1 hour exposure time and walked for miles, full well knowing that the shot would either be an absolute ripper or an absolute stinker. And what a stinker it was…
