- gives you flashbacks of traumatic events
- sends you into an agonizing panic attack
- makes your heart skip beats from sheer terror
it does not
- mildly offend you
- make you feel uncomfortable
- gross you out
- make you angry
are we fucking done here
Hey, I don’t like the wording of this.
Not all triggers affect people the same. It’s not always an instantaneous panic attack. Sometimes it starts out as discomfort and slowly escalates until it’s panic. Just because someone doesn’t instantly BAM go into a panic attack doesn’t mean they weren’t triggered. Sometimes it eats away at you gradually instead of attacking upfront.
I don’t like it when people generalize things that are this important to know about. Just because you have a trigger that doesn’t hit you like a dump truck all at once doesn’t mean it’s not a trigger, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise, darlings.
