not sure about michael’s but i did some research about Jo Anns and it looks like it was a mistake that they were being associated with anti-lgbt groups and cleared it up on their facebook page last year:

I did some research, and the ONLY one who has ANY KNOWN association with being anti-gay is Hobby Lobby. Michael’s is simply a suspicion. And Hobby Lobby is not anti-semitic. They didn’t sell Chanukah items because the founder is originally Christian, and they did decide to put them in stock. Sources?
