“Shoot the older students”

A group of Taliban gunmen attacked an army-run school in Peshawar, northwestern Pakistan, on Dec. 16 and the reported death toll is horrifying.

Over 130 people, including 100 children, have been killed in the attack.

More than 100 have also been injured after some 500 people were trapped when terrorists stormed the compound that houses the Army Public School and College.

A Taliban spokesman told wire services that the militants were ordered to kill the older children and release the younger ones.

“It’s a revenge attack for the army offensive in North Waziristan,” spokesman Muhammad Umar Khorasani told Reuters.

Six terrorists have been killed by security forces, a Pakistani general said, adding that operations had slowed down because of the risk of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) planted inside the school.

It took the army over six hours to gain full control of the premises.

Please understand the connections made in today’s murders. These were not arbitrarily done in the name of religion as many of you would like to think it was. This was done to avenge the children killed in NWA, according to Taliban logic. At the end of the day, it is the average Pakistani who has to pay the price of these overt and covert wars in our country. Please remember that the ongoing military operation in NWA is funded and propelled by the United States of America. The Taliban always use the excuse of religion and then “resistance” against imperialism to justify their slaughtering of innocent Pakistani life. This is not as simple as many of you want it to be for notes and 15 minute Internet fame. I have been constantly talking about the NWA military offensive and how it has worsened the sentiment among the targeted civilians by giving them the justification to join the Taliban. In Pakistan’s case, both the military and extremist militancy go hand-in-hand to kill civilian life. If you don’t understand our history, please stay quiet.
