anneapocalypse:

So I’m not sure if everyone around here is aware of this yet, but per this post on the RT site, the whole sponsors getting to watch a full day early is not just for the premier. It’s for the entire season:

SPONSOR CONTENT!
We’ve been doing more than ever for our Sponsors lately, so if you have yet to become a Sponsor, you might not realize what you’re missing. First, we’re releasing some of our biggest shows early – not just a few hours early- but a whole DAY early! Be the first to see RvB, Let’s Play Minecraft, Happy Hour, Shorts, and more to come

While this is great for sponsors, it’s not so great for non-sponsors, who now have a full day of potential spoilers to avoid instead of just two hours.

This makes it EXTRA SUPER IMPORTANT that we sponsors do THE UTMOST to keep spoilers under wraps until the episode airs for the public. Not everyone is able to use tumblr savior or other blacklisting extensions, especially those who browse on mobile platforms like a tablet.

  • Please be kind to your fellow fans and don’t post your gifsets and other uncut visual content until the episode airs to the public.
  • Consider taking your discussion to other platforms for that 24 hours. There’s the RvB comm on dreamwidth where we’ll have new episode discussion posts every week. Chat with people on skype or your platform of choice.
  • If you do choose to post about the episode before it’s public, be sure to tag and use your readmores. (Did you know you can easily place a cut in your textpost with the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-Shift-K?)

This is shaping up to be an exciting and suspense-filled season, so let’s all do our level best to keep it fun for everyone!

Just to be clear:

  • November 20th is Trans Day of Remembrance.
  • March 31st is (International) Trans Day of Visibility.
  • Both are very important dates.
  • TDoR was founded in 1998 to remember the murder of Rita Hester (and the fact that we know about her death is due to the diligent work of her community, that is, Black trans women: discussion here), and thus memorialize trans people who have fallen victim to attacks and raise awareness of continuing violence.
  • TDoV was founded much later, in 2009, by Rachel Crandall as a celebration of trans people, specifically citing that the sole holiday for trans people at the time was TDoR, a more somber day.
  • Both serve to educate and raise awareness, but come from different historical contexts.

speaking as someone who is mentally ill, i think a day like blackout and trans day of visibility would be really beneficial for mentally ill people? and heres why i think so:

  • mentally ill people dont get much visibility in media
  • when we do its because something bad (like murder) happened and the person that caused it was mentally ill (even though non mentally ill people do shit all the time too)
  • mental illness is never spoken about really, so people dont know how to deal with it
  • like my non mentally ill friends dont know how to deal with me because they dont know much about what im going through
  • mentally ill people are so strong for going through everything we’ve gone through
  • yet do we get recognition? no. because we’re barely acknowledged
  • and when we are acknowledged, its usually just about depression and anxiety. there are other mental illnesses.
  • i want mentally ill characters in books and movies that aren’t the villain (i just want to see someone like me)
  • and not just sob stories, i want a bipolar girl, or a boy with bpd meeting dragons or solving mysteries
  • a day spreading not only the selfies of mentally ill people, but posts explaining what different mental illnesses are and resources for mentally ill people would be rlly cool imo

basically, there are so many struggles that come with being mentally ill, and i think we deserve a day recognizing that.

hey non mentally ill people, please reblog this and support mentally ill people by helping us get our own day of recognition please
