fave kind of entertainment: that when some fetish artists try to draw casual non-fetish stuff but you can still see really clearly what fetish stuff they usually draw. like
I’m so for the headcanon that Carolina’s actual name is Carolina, after the state of course but what about the others? Like I doubt they’re all born on earth, what about the outer colony kids? Did they get to choose their names upon enlisting?
The recruits being asked to choose a state, and them not knowing any or only a few. The recruits choosing a state purely because their favorite absurdly old rock band was from that state, or because they heard it was beautiful in that state, or because they served once under a sergeant they respected from that state. Some of them never even heard of the states listed available on the list, forced to choose on random. Some choosing a state because it starts with the same letter as their real name did, some because they didn’t even know how to pronounce the others.
Names man, names. I’ve fallen too deep when I’m getting emotional over state names.
I don’t have the rvb book but I think it’s canon that wash’s real name is David Washington? but Florida is butch flowers so??¿ I mean for some names it makes sense; I know someone with the last name Washington. but for other agents… like Wyoming. Is his last name or something really Wyoming? I mean I would have assumed it was some sort of proper British name like Charles Williams.
Just checked the book and the only names of Freelancers we know are that Wyoming’s first name is Reginald and that Washington’s is David. No last names are mentioned there though? I’ve seen Wash being mentioned as David Washington but I can’t recall if it’s actually canon.
Nah Wash’s last name has eight characters if you check the spacing of the blacked out text where his last name’s supossed to be
I have a theory as to why state names in particular that I’m not going to go into because it involves a lot of personal theories and OCs, but I always figured the Director assigned them the codenames and he stuck Reggie with Wyoming because he thought it’d be funny to give the pompous British guy the most American state he could think of, barring Texas.
(As with most schemes one attempts to pull on Reginald this backfires horribly; Reginald immediately grows a frontier-quality moustache and whole-heartedly embraces the Wild West gun-for-hire mystique. Probably even learns stupid revolver tricks à la Ocelot.)
