1) The paint job is admittedly a bit scratched and scuffed after five successful kaiju take-downs, but on the front of the jaeger Goodboy Errol reads the Ramkin family motto: What we have, we keep. With giant robots, these days, seeing as the Ramkin family fortunes are almost single-handedly funding the jaeger program in Ankh-Morpork.
The Ramkins have a long and glorious history of fighting. Generations of noble, honorable men who nobly and honorably engaged their enemies–right up until the moment they weren’t winning anymore, at which point the awful old bastards turned to every low-down dirty trick in the book.
And Lady Sybil knows them all.
The day she offers C. W. St. John Nobbs her hand and a hearty laugh as they pick themselves up off the sparring mat, the jaeger techs add onto the back of Goodboy Errol: And what we haven’t, we’ll nick off you.
Those words are rather faint and scarred as well. Five successful kaiju take-downs by one of the best-synced (and below-the-belt and jolly cheeky about it all) pilot teams will do that to a paint job.
