for all its faults, i gotta say, im pretty impressed with this new feature i just noticed on skype after finally allowing it to upgrade yesterday
the little icon above your contacts that says “add bots” got me curious so i looked into it and basically there are a handful of bots that serve different purposes if you add them.
and the one that’s got me really stoked is called Summarize:
it’s exactly what it says on the tin. you pick a webpage and send it to the bot, and in a couple seconds it’ll spit out all the main points for you to read without having to go through the entire page. i sent it the wikipedia page for coffee just to test it, and this was the result (link to larger pic if you cant read it):
this is such a useful tool for people with attention disorders or students doing research projects so i just wanted to let people know about it! i havent tested it extensively obviously, but it looks pretty promising imo!
if you wanna check out Summarize or the other bots that are on skype (there’s one that let’s you search getty images, for example, if you’re an artist who needs stock photos), make sure you have the most recent update, and then click the icon above your contacts that says “add bots”, on the far right of the home/call/new toolbar.
