I am 100% sure this has already been done but I decided to make one based off of the hate mail I get.

I really don’t mean to be rude, I mean, ? all love to my trans friends and followers out there and I’m prob gonna get hate for this. But the space about the “ID needing to be M because of medical reasons” can be a bit of a gray area. Because although gender is based on who you are, and how you express who you are, it can be important to have the “typical” gender associated with your body on anything medical. Regardless of what gender a person identifies as, if they don’t have a prostate, they aren’t going to be at risk for prostate diseases, (and the same other kinds of sex organs). Sorry if this sounds cold or mean, I just wanted to share my thoughts… ?

I’m a trans woman and my doctor lists me as “female” in all his records. Guess I’m gonna die now lol.

Okay, seriously, this comes up every damn time. It’s not the truth. It’s not based on any sound science. Any medical procedures that are "girls are like this and boys are like that, amirite??” are not sound science. For example. Let’s say you’re drawing blood and performing a testosterone test. You need to know what “normal range” to test within, so you don’t get erroneous results. Now, typically, people like the-saxophone-sings will point to this kind of thing as “aha! the MALE body you see, needs different tests than the FEMALE body!!”.

No. That’s not what it’s saying. It’s saying that if you chemically test for something between 0 and 100, readings in the 200+ range will just show up as 100. Essentially imagine pegging the needle on your speedometer. This isn’t about the MALE body or FEMALE body (which, isn’t a thing). It’s about the mechanics of a test procedure, and using the SHORTCUT of our society’s gender binary to pick the right one off the shelf. The same test would FAIL when used on trans men if they were coded as “really” female. Which is why good medical practitioners actually get to know their patients, and understand their bodies, in order to provide relevant, individualized care. Trans man? Needs the male testosterone blood panel, regardless of what their records say. Trans woman? Needs the female estradiol blood panel. People with prostates? Need a prostate exam, regardless of what their records say.

And finally, the notion of “real” sex is flat out wrong. Unethical. Unscientific. Unhelpful.

thanks for your addition!

I just want to add real quick that the-saxophone-sings educated herself and privately apologized for her post. so please don’t bother her about the post (not that I think any of you would, I just don’t want anyone to be making fun of her when she actually did go learn).
