not sure if this extends outside of physical disabilities but it’d be worthwhile to keep in mind!

Guys. This is not true. This is a rumor. At first I thought I’d just ignore this, but the notes are climbing at a scary rate, so I’m addressing it. The OP deleted the post, so I went to twitter to find the tweet and that got deleted too. They probably figured out it wasn’t true and removed the posts, but people are continuing to reblog and accept this without questioning it. As someone with a disability, seeing info like this being widely accepted without real concrete evidence is upsetting.

I looked into this and searched around a bit. There seem to be no official nintendo accounts even mentioning playing Pokemon GO with a disability. If I’m wrong, please! Correct me.

If you’re not in the disabled community, you probably haven’t been exposed to the outcry of people who are heavily disabled trying to play Pokemon GO. Typing ‘pokemon go disability’ into twitter or google brings up a lot of posts about this, even some linking back to posts here on tumblr. Apparently lots of disabled people are handing off their phones to friends/family to catch pokemon for them- but this leaves them feeling defeated and left out because they don’t experience it themselves.

My disability is not as severe as others. I am not bound by a wheelchair. I do not rely heavily on others to move around. I can still go out for pokemon go and simply rest up after- but there are others who have it worse off than me. Friends, if you have a disability you know is risky to mess with, do not put yourself in a bad situation just to catch pokemon. Know your limits. If you go out, always let a friend or family member know what you’re doing. Be careful. Don’t hurt yourselves. Remember your health.
