If you are in a sit down restaurant with servers, it is polite to tip 15-20% of the bill at the end of the meal. Waitstaff are paid a pittance wage on the expectation it will be made up in tips. This is extremely fucked up but that’s how it is. Please do not withhold tips to American servers unless the service was truly horrible.
If you have food delivered to you at home or hotel or something, it’s polite to tip the delivery person a few dollars. They usually make minimum wage and don’t get much for gas/wear and tear on their vehicle.
Quick service fast food places like McDonald’s and Wendy’s are generally not tipped.
Some delis, coffee shops, and other small independent establishments may have a jar on the counter labelled TIPS. It is not required to tip but if you want to drop a dollar or your change in because you like the place they appreciate it. The tip jar is typically split up by the workers at the end of the day.
I don’t know how many followers I have outside the US, but I’m a server and I appreciate someone putting this into simple words without bias. Just for information’s sake.

Don’t forget to tip your bartenders too! Like waiters, they are rarely paid minimum wage. Here’s a helpful chart:
Not included: tip tattoo artists and massage therapists using the same guidelines as for a hairdresser above. If you go to a strip club, tip LOTS. That is a stripper’s salary and apparently in addition to not being paid by the club, they can actually be charged a fee by the club in order to work there. So if you choose to go to a strip club, tip very well.
Niantic has also altered a bunch of things to somehow be worse in the new update including:
removal of ALL footsteps instead of fixing the 3 step glitch
decrease in spawn rate for all pokemon
increase in fleeing rate for all pokemon
pokeballs now are altered slightly so throwing niche mechanics must be re-learned and will now sometimes curve without prompting
battery saver mode removed because why not lol
nice/great/excellent catch bonus exp removed
certificate pinning (WHY)
scan radius for pokemon reduced by 30% so you see even less at any given time
I honestly can’t believe Niantic is this out of touch with their own app and userbase. RIP PokemonGo

Most of these aren’t true. Like, literally just completely made up.
-They removed the three steps from showing WHILE they are working on a new tracking system. The live tracking updates were destroying their servers and they are working on a client-side feature instead of server-side.
-Spawn rates were not decreased.
-Fleeing rates were not increased
-They LESSENED the random curving of throws. You need to grab the pokeball while it isn’t in the middle of a flip, and move your finger in a straight line.
-Battery saver caused the game to freeze if it was in the darkened screen and a pokemon spawned.
-The throwing exp is still there. IDK where this one even came from.
This is literally all made up except the first one which is the only thing on here actually in the patch notes.
Actual changes that happened:
-Water type Pokemon were slightly nerfed
-Faster pokemon (i.e. Jolteon) were buffed
– Editing your character
-Various bug fixes
I DO AGREE that Niantic are being horrific with their handling of PR and openness with everyone. I am sad pokevision and pokehuntr were shut down, but they were technically cheating and against TOS and Niantic has that right.
Thousands of people are getting refunds on all the money they spent in game. Seriously, you can go to apple or google support, file a complaint, and likely get your money back. This is good, I guess. Except the fact that Niantic are severely losing their ability to work on the game with the loss of revenue.
