Y’know, in the first opening sequence for Steven Universe, Connie is holding a copy of Madeline L’Engle’s A Wrinkle In Time.
So what is that novel about, again? Well, it’s about a shy, bookish teenage girl
who teams up with the boy she has a crush on
and three ethereal cosmic beings (who have taken on the form of human women)
in order to rescue the girl’s father, who is being held prisoner on an alien planet where conformity is valued above all else.
