Delete your Uber account, and make sure they know you did it because they’re racist, profiteering scabs.
I read that Lyft donated a million dollars to ACLU, so that may be a good alternative.
(Also the fact that uber does surge pricing in the first place… evil and horrible. Plus the whole company’s model is to be dirt cheap juuust long enough to rub out the competition–taxi services–and then to jack the prices up to taxi prices. Until then, they’re bleeding money, just hoping to wait it out until people have no other alternative.)
I’m gonna push here for not switching to Lyft and instead looking into whether or not taxi drivers in your area are unionized and using them instead. It was unionized taxi drivers who were on strike last night, in solidarity with members. Lyft drivers are not organized, despite worker attempts to do so in NYC.
Organized taxi drivers–not Lyft–were the ones making an important political statement last night. Lyft may be donating to the ACLU, but their treatment of their drivers suggests that’s a move to make money off of Uber’s immensely garbage move.
