Like. She has an Editor. And an Agent.
I know some people are all upset that the author of the WORST fanfic in existence has success in writing now, but think.
She was what, 12? 14? when My Immortal was written? Everyone is awful then.
But she kept at it and improved. And that’s what should happen.
So now, whenever anyone says that you suck, or you’re a horrible writer, remember.
YOU CAN IMPROVE.
She did, so you can.
This is actually really motivating
She was 15! And she was in a mentally not great place (her words)! And she’s doing relatively okay now! And has a book on the way! You’re going to do okay! The future make look bleak but it doesn’t have to be!
Also, you don’t have to let your mistakes and things you regret define you.
My Immortal exists, certainly. But she is not defined by it. She’s a writer on her own terms, publishing because of her skill and creativity. She had a book deal before she was discovered.
You can write something you regret later and still move on.
this honestly just makes me feel better because I worry a lot about like “I want to post my stuff but what if the stuff that I’m writing now isn’t good and then later when I’m better someone digs it up and and everyone laughs at me I better keep everything secret forever”
