A moderately well-known BNF gets in a stupid fight and flounces, deleting all their accounts. A while later they reappear, mending fences and picking up their WIPs/RPs…
…OR DO THEY???
Title: The Return of MartianGar
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Return_of_Martin_Guerre
(…they adapted it into a musical??? I guess weirder things have been adapted into musicals…)
It can be historical fiction, set in the early 2000s, when fandom anonymity was still more of a thing.
The role of Bertrande can be played by MartianGar’s beta reader, who just really WANTS to believe they’ve turned over a new leaf and stopped referring to eyes as orbs.
We need ulterior motives for the person who first posits MartianGar2 is not MartianGar1… A notorious shit-stirrer, maybe? An overly hostile reviewer? Someone with a rival ship?
The story can be structured as a wank report.
bringing this back again
holyshitfreudvikings said: I mean, the Hamilton AIDS internet detectivery was done by someone bitter over being called out for their cannibal mermaid RPF, so there’s a WORLD of possibilities for why someone would want to out MartianGar2.
I. What.
now THIS is a story i need to hear
OK, so as I understand it, a popular HIV awareness blog got outed as not in fact being run by a non-binary HIV+ disabled Chinese-Pakistani person living in India and their lesbian wife, but instead by an American college student trying to justify her HIV Hamilton High School AU. She was found out by said cannibal mermaid RPF author, who did some digging and realised the donation link provided wasn’t convenient to India, and the full story tumbled out .
If you’re interested in sources, here’s the fanlore.org article. Highlight: “gentrifying cannibalism”.
