It can be historical fiction, set in the early 2000s, when fandom anonymity was still more of a thing.

The role of Bertrande can be played by MartianGar’s beta reader, who just really WANTS to believe they’ve turned over a new leaf and stopped referring to eyes as orbs.

We need ulterior motives for the person who first posits MartianGar2 is not MartianGar1… A notorious shit-stirrer, maybe? An overly hostile reviewer? Someone with a rival ship?

The story can be structured as a wank report.

OK, so as I understand it, a popular HIV awareness blog got outed as not in fact being run by a non-binary HIV+ disabled Chinese-Pakistani person living in India and their lesbian wife, but instead by an American college student trying to justify her HIV Hamilton High School AU. She was found out by said cannibal mermaid RPF author, who did some digging and realised the donation link provided wasn’t convenient to India, and the full story tumbled out .
