this is a good au. also, honestly, yeerks are social creatures and nothliting as a whale probably would not be their best life in the long run; aftran as a human nothlit living with the chee would have 1) kept aftran in play as a possible ally (which would have been GREAT) and also 2) made the chee actually go out of their way to help someone. which, while they give the animorphs info sometimes, they really don’t do much to assist our heroes.
