A powerful psychic cast a spell that caused the players to forget the events of the previous day and the party’s mission was to back track their steps to learn what happened in the missing time.
Fighter: “Can I get a quick explanation on the book’s rule for the spell?”
DM: “What do you need?”
Fighter: “Just curious about the limits.”
DM: “A roll of 1d20 plus the intelligence modifier determines the mental distance in which a subject can be controlled. Any player inside the distance will have total erasure of the selected time period.”
Fighter: “And that mental distance was 26 points, yeah? I’m outside that.”
Healer: “No way, you have no points in intelligence. You didn’t beat out the psychic.”
Fighter: “Outside the mental distance doesn’t mean I have to be smarter…I have a -6 modifier. My intelligence is 4. I’m outside.”
DM: “…Okay, switch channels with me so I can tell you about the missing day. The psychic mistook you for a rock and never wiped your mind.”
Fighter: “Neat!”
