the idea behind it was just one supposed prototype for dealing with the fact that Amazon warehouses are so heavily automated. They drew this up as a potential solution to the problem of “how do we keep our employees safe from the mindless 600kg bots zipping around?”.
Luckily rationality won out and they just gave their employees wristbands that deactivate any nearby robot so it doesn’t crush them.
