In an absolutely shocking twist [**sarcasm**], the Abbott govt has announced that it in fact will not be going ahead with supporting the historic, first-of-its-kind Gonski education reforms that introduced a needs-based system of allocating funding to schools.

Education Minister Christopher Pyne said that the funding model, which secures additional resources for the most disadvantaged schools in low SES areas, will be scrapped as it is “inequitable.” Because of course, in the eyes of the LNP, anything that doesn’t uphold or entrench the obscene privilege of the private sector is a gross injustice.

So to everyone who voted LNP, public school children nation-wide thank you for condemning them to further years of second-rate education. And to those who voted LNP with kids in public schools, private school kids around the country thank you for voting to maintain their superior standard of education at your own child’s expense.
