Okay but Rose was right.

There have been a lot of complaints with this set of upd8s that they didn’t wrap up people’s arcs right. That the archetypes weren’t being used as well as they could have been. That the narrative was badly paced or unrealistic. That the foreshadowing was ignored.

But Homestuck didn’t end as an epic. It ended as a wide-open snapshot into the lives of characters who exist not to fulfill their arcs or make good on their foreshadowing, but to be happy. And I too wanted to lie on the ground with a pillow on my face when I first saw the final page, but the more I think about it, the more I feel like that’s the only possible way this sprawling mess of a story could have ended.
