skulltulasgrip:

If we do ever get another installment to the main Animal Crossing series, there are a few things I’d like to see:

  • Picking your skin tone at the start of the game. I have high hopes, since apparently you can do just this in the new side game, Happy Home Designer!
  • The return of being the Mayor. I really thought it was a great concept in New Leaf, but I feel they could have done more with it. I want to be able to decide where my villagers build their houses, and to be able to move major buildings like the Town Hall and Retail.
  • The option of having a part-time job. It could work as a fun mini-game, whether it’s making deliveries for the post office (Poor Pete could use the help) or the return of working at The Roost. There could also be fun things, such as being a Lifeguard at the beach and watching over the villagers as they go swimming (tbh I was disappointed that the animals don’t swim) or even playing Night Guard as you watch over the precious paintings in the museum and have to catch Redd as he tries to steal them and replace them with counterfeits.
  • More interactive, immersive villagers. New Leaf took a step in the right direction, with villagers sometimes visiting you or inviting you over. I think it could be pushed forward though. I want to see the villagers relationships with eachother. I want to see two villagers who are friends walking around town holding hands or playing ball – I for one wouldn’t mind the return of the sports balls from the original game.
  • The ability to trigger events at will. Sometimes, I want to play hide and seek, or have an animal come over to my place to chill – but it’s randomly generated and happens rarely. Why not allow the player to have an option to ask if the villager wants to play? It could also help boost your friendship with other villagers.
  • Villagers who were very close to your character should visit after moving away. I think it’d be a cute feature – sometimes we see old residents visit the shopping area. What’s to stop them them from visiting a player character they were especially close with?
  • More things to do with the villagers. Whether it’s just asking them to go for a morning jog, going fishing together, or heading to the beach together – it’d be cute and fun. Also, going on shopping sprees with your favorite villagers. Or running into them at Able’s and helping them pick out an outfit or having them help you pick out an outfit (not necessarily a good one, mind you)
  • Sleepovers with villagers or other players should totally be a thing. It really should. Suddenly in your main room there are sleeping bags and candles. The villagers can tell “scary” stories or you can just drive your friends nuts with the flashlight. Also player characters having the ability to draw on another player characters face when their character goes to sleep (providing that the wi-fi isn’t interrupted) and the victim having to go around with it the next day.
  • The return of the Sports Fair. It was super cute and fun to watch – they should bring it back, with the ability to actually participate and win or lose. Also on that note, bring back the Morning Aerobics, too. Just because it was adorable.
