Steam refunds

theheroheart:

I haven’t seen much about this even though a portion of my dash/followers are gamers, so I thought I’d mention for those who don’t know.

As of this month (June), you can now get full refunds on any game recently bought through Steam, for any reason.

The only requirements are:

  • It’s been less than 14 days since you bought it
  • You’ve played less than 2 hours

This means you can totally buy a game, test it out, and if you don’t like it, or if you’re having problems with it or whatever, you can get your money back, easy peasy. (Accessed by going through Steam Support.)

This is particularly relevant with the current sale, especially if you’re weak to low prices and regret some of your impulse buys.

AND it’s relevant because if you bought a game just before it went on sale, you can actually get a full refund and then re-buy it at sale price and save money. (They specifically say that this is allowed and not considered abuse.)

This makes buying games through Steam a hell of a lot safer, and lets you try out games that you’d otherwise feel wary about buying in case you don’t like it. YAY!
