Remember though that Tamir Rice, who was only twelve years old, was also shot on video—quite clearly without being given a chance to surrender. Tamir’s killer, Cleveland Officer Tim Loehmann, so far remains uncharged. There is no sense to any of it. While it’s no doubt useful, video doesn’t necessarily outweigh Black victims’ being seen/presented as inhuman and undeserving of basic rights.
