How Our Policy & Abuse and Support Volunteers Get in Touch with You
We recently received reports about one or more Tumblr accounts posing as “AO3 consultants” and contacting other users about their works on the Archive. In those messages, users are asked to take down their works “due to reports of abuse” or else have their works deleted by AO3 admins.
Hey, folks! Just a heads up that AO3 Support and AO3 Policy & Abuse will never contact you via social media. The only way they’ll contact you is via the e-mail address associated with your AO3 account, so please keep it up to date.
A list of all official OTW social media accounts can be found here on our website. Those accounts are sometimes used to contact people for various reasons (such as replying to tweets or answering Tumblr asks), but never for anything related to a ticket with Support or Policy & Abuse.
All information submitted to Support and Policy & Abuse is confidential and restricted to only those who need to know. This means that cases being handled by those committees will never be discussed on social media.
If you’ve received a message via social media claiming to be from or about AO3 Support or AO3 Policy & Abuse, please contact the relevant committee directly to let them know and confirm that the message is fake. You can do this by filling out either the Support form or the Policy & Abuse form.
