Even if Twitter won’t do anything about this garbage, I want to boost the hell out of this. Get his face spread everywhere so we can all avoid him forever.
“Not directly involved?” So, what, if I see someone robbing a store I had no intention of going in, I should do nothing because I’m not directly involved? If I see someone beating someone else on the other side of a street, I should do nothing because I’m not directly involved? If I see a man condone rape and threaten to rape a girl if she doesn’t go to prom with him, where he’ll likely pressure her into sex or rape her there, and smiling because he thinks he’s done nothing wrong and will get away with it, I should do nothing because i’m “NOT DIRECTLY INVOLVED”?? Bull-fucking-shit. You tell someone, you report him to the authorities, and you are the fucking authorities in this case Twitter because you are supposed to be in charge here and trying to at the very least keep your sight somewhat user friendly in terms of feeling safe. If he really did assault someone would you do something then? Probably not.
And that fact is just disgusting, I’m really sick of websites scared of people siting “freedom of speech” violations if they ban them for this sort of stuff or just not caring about their HUNDREDS OF OTHER USERS who lodge complaints. Alienate 1 or 100 of faceless people you don’t know who you want to use your product? I would think the answer is obvious, especially considering no one wants to be seen on the side of such a blatant potential rapist. Firstly, that little quote up there is kind of a mass threat. He is condoning raping any girl, me, my friend, my sister, my mother—any female “cannot” be raped, so he is fostering a terrifying environment for half the world’s fucking population when they see people retweeting w/o comment in agreement. Secondly, I’m pretty sure “Or I’ll Rape you” is a goddamn threat against a specific person and I would think you wouldn’t want a man threatening to rape women on your site. Kind of stinks up the place to say the least. Grow a fucking pair and deactivate his account. What’s he going to do, lodge a complaint of “Hey, why’d you ban me, i was just saying women can’t be raped so it’s a man’s right to force himself on her but I used that fear women have of being forced into sex to try and force a girl to go out with me, likely to have sex.” I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t be able to take much legal action against you.
