Please, if you’re gonna make fun of something terrible, focus on the reason that thing is terrible, not just everything about it

I’m seeing this a lot with Tumblr taking mannosphere terms and using them in meme-y ways, which of course i support making fun of these guys, but making fun of incels/volcels for not getting laid and just that is gonna hurt sexual abuse survivors and asexuals just as much when you literally do not need to do that

Incels are terrible because they’re straight men who blame their inability to get laid on women. Not because they can’t get laid.

MGTOW are also way funnier anyway. For those who don’t know, Men Going Their Own Way are misogynistic straight men who have decided to boycott women. Yes you read that correctly. They don’t date or have sex, and they sit around on Reddit complaining about how awful women are. But notice the reason they’re not dating or having sex; they’re, in their minds, boycotting women. Imagine hating an entire gender so much that you think not dating or having sex with them is the same as an actual boycott.

But back to the point, when you make these jokes, please try to focus on what’s actually wrong here. Incels aren’t funny cause “lol you can’t get laid”. Incels are funny because “lol you’re blaming everyone else for your inability to get laid”. MGTOW are funny because “lol you’re equating celibacy to a boycott”.
