Police in Baltimore are amped and ready to tell you about every detail of damage inflicted upon patrol cars, buildings, exaggerated accounts of assault from ‘mobs’ of ‘threatening’ high schoolers–but can they tell you what Freddie Gray did? Can they explain with the same transparency and vigour what Freddie Gray did to deserve being beaten to the point where his spine was 80% severed from his cervical region? Freddie Gray was carrying a switchblade of legal size, Freddie Gray’s murderers unabashedly failed to provide him proper medical care under their custody, Freddy Gray fell into a coma after an hour of his confrontation with the police. Police officers in Baltimore are ready and prepared to go on CNN and discuss the number of cracks on their windshield but will not and cannot explain to you why Freddie Gray was targeted on April 12th, 2015.

For the record:

On August 9, just hours after Mike Brown was murdered, a police officer let the dog he was “controlling” pee on the memorial for Mike. Around 7 pm that night, police then drove over the candles and flowers that Mike’s mother, Lesley McSpadden, and protesters had placed over the blood stains still left in the middle of the street.

On the early morning of September 23, one of the memorials for Mike Brown caught on fire. None of the witnesses knew who started it. It was rebuilt bigger and better hours later.

Shortly after midnight on December 26, the other memorial for Mike Brown was intentionally run over. It was rebuilt by protesters just a few hours later. Later that day, Ferguson officer Timothy Zoll called the memorial “a pile of trash”.

By April 19, the newly planted red oak tree dedicated to the memory of Mike Brown was vandalized and the plaque next to it was stolen.
