The case around Mike Brown’s killing by a Ferguson police officer is only getting murkier.
After releasing images from a gas station robbery to the press Friday morning with the suggestion Mike Brown was pictured in them, the Ferguson police department is now backtracking. In a second press conference hours later, Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson admitted that Brown’s shooting was unrelated to the incident.
Jackson told reporters that Brown and a friend were in fact stopped, “because they were walking down the middle of the street blocking traffic.”
He also admitted that Darren Wilson, the officer who killed Brown, didn’t suspect Brown at the time that he stopped him.
When Chief Jackson was asked by reporters why his department chose to release the robbery tape if it was unrelated to the shooting, he replied that he had to because “the media asked for it.”
Just because the good cops are in town now doesnt mean that the system is fixed bruh. These cops that were using unnecessary force must be put to justice by a court of their peers as criminals. Bills for stricter police control need to be introduced and laws must be passed. The people are safe now but by every meaning of the phrase: stay woke
Don’t let this police double talk fool you. Mike Brown was not stopped in connection to any robbery. The police’s original account of the incident along with every eyewitness account confirms that Darren Wilson told Mike Brown to “get on the fucking sidewalk.” Darren Wilson stopped Mike Brown because he saw a black guy and wanted to assert his authority over him. Don’t forget that Mike Brown had his hands in the air and said “Don’t shoot me” when Darren Wilson shot him in the head. This is confirmed by two separate eyewitness accounts. Don’t forget that Darren Wilson shot Mike Brown four more times while the kid was laid out already dead, again, confirmed in two separate eyewitness accounts.
What you have here is the case of an absolute animal, Darren Wilson, a violent, dangerous individual, a rabid dog.

I am calling because the police department of Ferguson, Missouri is using federally funded weapons against unarmed American citizens in a reckless, inappropriate, and unlawful manner. I am calling to request immediate action to protect the people of Ferguson and to fully investigate the Ferguson Police Department’s actions, including the killing of Michael Brown and the subsequent abuse of protestors and arrest of journalists and elected officials. I believe that all civil rights and civil liberties, including the right to free speech and lawful assembly, are very important, and I hope that ELECTED OFFICIAL agrees with me. Sometimes when you call they ask some questions about who you are or where you live, but it’s really painless usually. And, call even if you think your rep is an asshole — whoever answers the phone is trained to be polite. If they get enough calls, they usually wind up listening at some point.

these calls actually matter you guys I am not joking.
before I got here I would see organizations asking people to call or email their representatives and kind of write it off like “oh politicians don’t listen to that stuff.” but in fact! there are correspondence managers and other people whose job is to keep track of the opinions expressed in all the calls/emails/letters that they get, and that does inform how the office chooses to respond – you hear in meetings “we’ve been getting a lot of calls in support of ____, but none opposing it, so we don’t see any benefit to opposing it” or “this isn’t a priority to our constituents” or whatever. This isn’t to say that politicians only ever do what their constituents want but it does factor in, if for no other reason than that politicians like being voted for repeatedly.
all of which is to say! I think this is a good idea. If you can’t call, that is fine. you can send an email via any congressional representative’s website, or even print and mail a letter – the addresses are also listed on their websites. You could have a letter-writing party or a call-in party, or if you’re a college student, maybe table in the student center with laptops where passers-by can send emails on your congressional reps’ websites.
