Leelah Alcorn committed suicide and today I read that a black trans woman has gone missing. Her car was found charred to a crisp [X]. Note: the site is down at the time of posting this (12/30, 1pm Central) probably due to high traffic right now.

So it’s business as usual, the only way society is going to pay attention to us is if we’re dead and that’s only if we’re white. Trans women of color are being ignored yet again. Like yeah, there was the murder of Jennifer Laude and that gain some mainstream notoriety, but notice that when a black trans woman is murdered it is never going to hit the national news circuit.

Actually please do this, because it’s important people know it’s not okay to misgender someone just because they’re knowledge and awareness is limited.

I just checked the school website and they’ve taken down the memorial, hopefully this means they’re going to replace it with a better one but we’ll have to wait and see 😐
