okay lemme tell you a thing

tony abbott is a douche, right? we all know that

but what people fail to tell people that don’t live in australia is that the government is run differently here than in america.

tony abbott isn’t in charge of everything

the liberal party is the group of people that organise things, and tony abbott is the face of that party, he basically does shit all for the government and country, and lives in the lodge doing nothing and shaking hands

the government over here cannot even make decisions without the explicit approval of the queens representative, the governor general.

so basically, i don’t care what the hell tony abbott says, because I believe that the liberal party in itself does the best for the country, and he has basically no power whatsoever

and so, if i hear you slandering over tony abbott being prime minister over kevin fucking rudd, i will tell you that you should stop being an idiot, and see that the labor party would have been worse for the country because of their instability within their own party.

rant over.

oh god, i don’t even know where to start with this. i’m just gonna go through point by point.

ok, no tony abbot isn’t in charge of everything, and our political system is different to america. however, tony abbot is the face of the party for a reason, and that is that he represents their views. also, he actually does some seriously important things, like, i don’t know, choosing ministers, or making himself the minister for women.

sorry, are you trying to argue that tony abbot has no power within his own party? he chooses the ministers. and again, the reason he was chosen to lead the party is because the values he holds aren’t just his. they are the values of the party.

tony abbot has power. his party has power. and yeah, rudd’s government was a fucking mess, but at least they weren’t homophobic. at least they weren’t blatantly misogynist. at least they weren’t hell bent on destroying this country’s economic stability (friendly reminder that if abbot had been in power when the gfc hit, we would almost certainly still be in recession). at least they fucking tried to help this country instead of this country’s big business.

rant over.

Are you seriously trying to say that the labor government WASN’T homophobic? Remember when the house of representatives voted on whether or not they were in favour of gay marriage being legalised? Hardly anybody voted on the affirmative side. Sure, Tony Abbott put in a vote that clearly said HE DIDN’T WANT GAY MARRIAGE LEGALISED. BUT SO DID JULIA GILLARD AND KEVIN RUDD.

Tony Abbott choses the ministers for certain things. He makes himself minister for women, but, guess what I said before? NO BILLS CAN PASS WITHOUT THE MAJORITY VOTE OR THE GOVERNOR GENERALS APPROVAL.

So, guess what? Tony Abbott may be the damn Prime Minister, and he may be the Minister for Women’s Issues, but guess what? That does not mean anything.

Remember how John Howard’s Liberal Government kept the country running brilliantly for 12 years – until 2007 – and everything only turned to shit, and the governments got messed up when Kevin Rudd’s Labor came into power?

Remember all the bullshit that the Labor party has done?

I’m not excusing the bullshit that both of the major parties come up with, but I don’t think that you should simply turn your head without digging deeper into what the parties have done, and what they stand for. I can totally accept your opinion, but I’m seriously telling you that maybe should attempt to decipher the lies from the truths. Especially when it comes to politics.

1) ok, sorry, at least the labor party isn’t ACTIVELY HOMOPHOBIC and also generally disgusting. to my knowledge, neither gillard nor rudd have ever responded to a question about gay marriage with “let’s have a bloke’s question”

2) julia gillard is actually against the institution of marriage as a whole. i know this doesn’t excuse her behaviour, but it’s something that actually should affect her opinion

3) sorry, but being the prime minister does actually mean something. being a fucking federal minister does actually mean something

4) you are aware that the govenor general/queen’s role is to ensure that laws aren’t unconstitutional, right? that’s the only time the don’t get approved

5) DO YOU REMEMBER HOWARD’S IR LAWS??

6) what bullshit? do you have any examples?

7) what lies?
