I think I’m
not the only one feeling this weird trapped feeling today, feeling sick and
overwhelmed but unable to stop reading, reblogging. Trying to understand when
there is nothing to understand.
I live in
the middle of it. 19 people died in front of the bar I go drinking twice a
week, and my friend the barmaid was hidden behind the bar for two hours. One of
my best friend lives rue Bichat and heard the gunfire from his window. I know a
family trapped in stade de France. I should have been drinking in Republique at
8PM yesterday, where they started shooting.
Yeah I get
it. We are freaking out.
But please,
stop spreading only the bad stuff. Stop the pictures and videos of bodies in
the street, of yelling and blood. Stop talking about refugee’s hate, and
islamophobia.
Talk more
about the people that yelled in the street the number of the code to their flat
when victims where running everywhere to bring them to safety. The man that
opened the window of his flat to victims of the Bataclan stranded on the roof.
Talk about
the man that went back to help a stranger pregnant woman, and the kid that was
carried to safety by a total stranger worried he could be trampled by the
crowd.
Talk about
the social media, the hashtag #porteouverte to get people out of the street and
#voyageavecmoi to help people afraid to travel alone because of their
religion/skin color.
Talk about
the taxis that stayed in the street, bringing people home for free all night,
and the bus drivers that helped evacuate the Bataclan.
The people
crowding the blood centers, so much that Paris now has to send them back home.
The people
in their home, terrified and in shock, and only waiting for the possibility to
crowd the street and show them that we are afraid but not broken, and together.
There are
handfuls of people that will take out of this tragedy all the bad lessons, the
wrong evidences.
But please
don’t talk about them. Talk about the fraternity and the love of the scared,
scarred, ones in Paris. Because we are so many, and we won’t give up
A lot of news on Tumblr about recent tragedy that has been happening is hours old, and a lot of the actions because of it are distorted too. So here’s links to clear up a lot of these things:
Japan – No immediate reports of injury/damage in Japan. Tsunami advisory was lifted 90 minutes after being put in place. Also reported there was also no threat of a Tsunami from the quake. 2011 was the year when a Tsunami killed 18,000 people, not this year. (x)(x)
Mexico – They are fine. No reports of immediate damage/injury. (x)
Paris – Eiffel Tower turns it’s lights of every night to save electricity, the GIF of it going dark dates back to January. If the lights went off for victims of yesterday’s attack then at the time, the attack would’ve still been happening. (x)
Donald Trump – Let me make this clear; I am not defending him here, this is to clear up something. His disgustingly gross tweet about gun control in Paris dates back to the Charlie Hedbo attack. (his real tweet from last night is included but he’s still scum) (x)Although his tweet about boming oil fields, and people not laughing about the idea now was last night which is disgusting to try and make some kind of joke/comment about that.
“Not Afraid” Photos – Those photos date back to January when the Charlie Hebdo attack happened.(x)
Tumblr isn’t a trusted news source for these recent events, and past events aftermaths. Go to the BBC, Associated Press, Reuters for trusted news of current situations in Paris especially.
Ps- I wanted to help THIS post out too with spreading some reliable information
All Sikh Temples in Paris have opened their doors to victims of the attack/those seeking safety and shelter and are using twitter hashtag #PorteOuverte, please signal boost this so people are aware
French Police repeat: STAY INDOORS // RESTE CHEZ SOI
IMPORTANT: PLEASE DON’T USE THE “PORTEOUVERTE” HASHTAG UNLESS YOU ARE IN PARIS AND READY TO OPEN YOUR HOME TO PEOPLE ON THE STREET. TO SHARE NEWS, PRAYERS, THOUGHTS AND OTHER THINGS, USE A DIFFERENT HASHTAG OR WAY OF COMMUNICATING SO THAT PEOPLE LOOKING FOR SHELTER CAN EASILY FIND A WAY TO STAY. THANK YOU!
2 explosions and 3 shootings in Paris (update: 10th and 11th arrondissement)
Apparently attacks took place on seven different locations. Locations on map: click here.
Amount of dead unsure, many different reports. Time will give more clarification. The highest number being reported is 60 150 dead. iTele channel says 118 dead, unnamed official at Paris City Hall says 140, sources are still not sure. More later.
About 100 people were being held hostage at a concert venue (Bataclan) – RAID ON BATACLAN IS OVER (UPDATE: ASSAULT ON BATACLA IS OVER. TWO THREE TERRORISTS KILLED, REPORT SEVERAL NEWS SITES. DEATH TOLL UNANNOUNCED OFFICIALLY.) (update: cityoflittleliars says:
apparently the terrorists were throwing explosives at the hostages before the police intervened)
BBC reports at least 100 dead at Bataclan concert venue. – potentially unreliable number. More info later. Injured are now taken to hospitals
President Hollande now travelling to Bataclan
Parisians: stay inside or find shelter if you’re still outside. (use the #PORTEOUVERTE hashtag to find shelters!!)
POLICE HAVE ASKED EVERYONE TO STAY INSIDE.
Police know nothing of the killers, the French media is making references to Charlie Hebdo but nothing is confirmed yet. Attackers were most likely IS recruits
People were not allowed to leave stadium of Stade de France at first. Have been let go now. (Update: womenaregreatfighters says: at least two people at the stadium dead)
France has closed its borders (keep attackers from fleeing and keep outside threats out) and declared a national state of emergency
Schools and universities in Ile de France closed until further notice.
Lights of the Tour d’Eiffel have been turned off in memory of those who’ve lost their lives tonight.
PARISIANS

Taxis are driving around for free bringing people home/off the streets.
#porteouverte: hashtag used for people on the streets who can’t go home; others are opening their homes for you, use the hashtag!
Facebook: “I’m safe” function for Paris attacks to let friends and family know you’re safe.
FREE PARISIAN EMERGENCY NUMBER: 0 800 40 60 05.
I will try to add on to this as I get more information. Unfortunately there isn’t much I can do, but I hope this is at least informative and possibly helpful to some.
“The French police have been alerted to keep an eye on refugee centers, in case revenge actions are committed. KEEP IN MIND THIS IS WHAT THESE PEOPLE ARE FLEEING FROM, DON’T LET THEM SUFFER FOR IT.” Keep an eye on your local refugee shelters as well. This can be important both in and out of Paris.
Anyone who has more information send me a message I will update this post!
