it’s looking more and more like only gems that were made for combat have weapons given lapis/ bismuth/ sapphire/ peridot don’t seem to have an actual weapon for fighting… but where does that leave pearl? is her will to stab people so strong she just managed to manifest her very own stabber or what
i really like the idea that it’s supposed to be a fancy non-functional ceremonial scepter that she turned into a weapon mainly with determined trial and error and physics/engineering skillz, THAT SAID ‘u ever get so mad you manifest a magical weapon you were never intended to wield’ would be the best pearl backstory we could possibly ask for
I have a sneaking suspicion that we’re going to get a whole arc about the “off colour” Gems this season. I’m not sure why – Steven Universe just seems like the sort of story where a fifth-act viewpoint shift to a completely different planet where we follow a new group of characters we’ve never seen before and have no reason to care about, yet who will inexplicably become more popular with the fandom than the ostensible core cast is the sort of thing that happens.
Controversial opinion but The Adventure Zone, Steven Universe, and Homestuck are all still excellent and made by good people.
Diverse media is held to an impossibly high and ludicrously unfair standard while mediocrity and baiting are continually rewarded.
